Rated Highest in Homeowner Satisfaction Nationwide Among Production Builders 50-99 Homes Annually. (Source: 2004 NRS Corp. National Homeower Satisfaction Study.) To identify the nation's top performers in customer satisfaction, NRS Corp., the nation's leading provider of customer satisfaction research for the homebuilding industry, tapped into its extensive national database of builders and remodelers -- from large publicly traded companies to small custom builders and remodelers. Surveys were sent to 63,651 homeowners who closed on a new home or completed remodeling projects in 2003, making this the largest study of its kind in the homebuilding industry. Unlike the J.D Power study, which relies on public documents, the NRS research is 100 percent supplied by builders and homebuyers.

The surveys asked homeowners about their degree of satisfaction in several key areas of new home construction and remodeling, including home features, floor plan/layout, quality of materials, quality of workmanship, price/value, lot and location, sales process, lending process, options/upgrades/colors, office staff, project superintendent, walk-through, post move-in warranty service, number of items identified for correction, time to make corrections, overall recommend intentions, and actual recommend behaviors.

An NRS Index Score for each builder was calculated as a weighted average of the company's satisfaction scores across all categories. This score determined the builder's rankings in the study.
